Crohn's Disease Diet

Crohn's disease is often aggravated by certain foods. To help ease your symptoms, it is important to reduce or eliminate certain foods from your diet.

To help alleviate Crohn's disease symptoms, try the following:
  • Limit dairy products from your diet. Some people with Crohn's disease might need to completely eliminate dairy from their diets.
  • Stick to a low-fat diet. Some people with Crohn's disease can't absorb fat properly. This can cause diarrhea.
  • Avoid raw fiber. Sometimes, fiber can make diarrhea worse. If this is the case for you, try cooking fruits and vegetables before you eat them.
  • Eat a number of small meals throughout the day rather than two or three big meals.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine and carbonated beverages.
In addition to the above, you might need to take vitamins. Talk to a dietitian about taking supplements.
